I believe that my project 1 zine can be most accurately summarized by the title that it was given - not in five words, but in one. The intention was to invoke thoughts regarding societal expectations and the general climb to higher education throughout dealing with such expectations, from being accepted by the community and country you're in, getting the money required to actually go places, and rolling a boulder up a hill, an act as functionally useless as going to something like highschool; because you're never going to really apply the skills learned there to anything in life. College is where applicable skills and interests are gathered, and only when the man reaches the summit does he fit in with the color of everything around him. Throughout his journey, he constantly contrasts where he is and what he's interacting with, and it takes a monumental volume of effort to get somewhere meaningful to him, and the final page was intended to further contrast this, through the group of graduates looking up at

another contrasting mountain they have yet to climb.

Throughout our lives, we all tackle a number of expectations, some bigger than others, but the guarantee of college is as much of a challenge to reach as it is an opportunity. It's a difficult summit to reach, and yet also acts as the start of an entirely new climb; a mountain after a mountain that we'll always be climbing for as long as we live, because all we do in life is strive to fulfill expectations.

You can find visual aides in the previous post; so here's my cat again.
